Currently in my 125 reef, im getting these micro scopic airbubbles everywhere from my outake. I dunno where they are coming from and im not sure what to do about it. I've seen tanks where the water is crystal clear. I wish for the same. Any suggestions?
ive heard could be your skimmer producing them or do you have baffles or use filter socks ? <---- what i have heard
my experience no teflon tape for the plumbing and was sucking air from the joints for this i took plumbers putty and put around the ins and outs (every thing was glued)(wont do that again) good luck
No skimmer, but ill looking at the joints, it was a used tank and im unsure what they used for plumbing. I think it's mainly just stainless steel thread clamps
I had this problem and found it was a combo of my skimmer and the overflow in my main tank. The overflow would create a lot of bubbles which of course ended up down in the sump. I found that when I would shine a bright light in the sump I could see millions of little bubbles that aren't obvious to see in the regular mostly dark environment under the main tank. I re-plumbed my overflow and skimmer outlet so that they emptied into a filter sock. At that point the problem ended. This was the first time I had added any mechanical filtration to the tank and I found that not only did it take care of bubbles but also it was helpful in catching plenty of other 'gunk'. Now I just have to be sure to change filter socks every couple of days.
