Has anyone ever heard or experienced contamination by time-released air fresheners or any other air-born products??? I have no canopy and this may be an issue for me. Thanks

Not sure about the air products but burning "scented candles" is a known issue.

I have searched up and down on this subject and have found zero info on it. If you find anything on this, post the links please.

As I think the oils are very similar, I have removed these devices from my home until further notice.

Well of course I can not find it yet, but I had come across a study that showed the soots and oils from scented candles had adverse effects on aquariums.
I must say however if it is this hard to find, maybe not as big an issue as it would seem. (however my $thousands invested always error to the side of safe first).
I will keep digging

My wife powders our carpet with deoderizer before vacuming and I think that my have killed our hippo tang a while ago. I am a bit paranoid lately.

There is nothing being wrong with paranoid. After all the time we have invested in our tanks it would suck to have one crash due to some carpet deoderizer. I always wondered about this as well. It seems like if you got a fair ammount in the tank it could possibly kill a fish or so leading into a chain reaction. I suppose, depending on the chemical, that most would be like smoking near a tank.
