Airstone In a Needlewheel Skimmer?

With all the mods for ER/ASM type needlewheel skimmers [gate valve, recirculating] I was wondering if anyone has ever drilled for and airline tube and hooked up an airstone in the bottom of the reaction chamber? I would think this would be an extremely simple mod that would dramatically increase the bubble volume... any experience or thoughts?

there are alot of air stone skimmers out there right now. but some of them are having problems with bubble size. there too big. and others have sucess with the bubble size. i think you would be better of adding another pump. it would double the air input to the skimmer.

yup, Id add another pump.

1. bubble size.

2. noise.

your sacrificing chamber turbulence and electrical efficiency. IMO the noise is a deal breaker depending on your application.

Get a bigger reaction chamber and add more NW recirculating pumps.
