Akinydos clowns from Vanuatu?

why steal from the ocean when they are being captive bred youd find the CBs are much hardier and disease free.

look around there are a few breeders in the US.

they arent really rare just very poor shippers and reluctant spawners.

if you want a rare clown(only get it if you plan on breeding) go for the omanensis, mccullochi, leucokranos, thiellei, chyrospterus, chyrosgaster, chagosensis, latifascinatus, fusocaudatus, latezonatus.

those are the rare ones, you can find a few that are listed being CB but they will be expensive or a long waiting list to get a pair.

just my .02
ben

if you dont want to breed but want a nice looking clown go for the no barred OC, snowflake, picasso, jigsaw, onyx percula. all captive breed and different looking.

good luck with your choice

Holy cow Ben, the guy just asked if Akinydnos came from Vanuatu, and you give him a list of clowns, 3 quarters of which he never has a chance of ever obtaining.

Yes, Akinydos are collected from Vanuatu. It is the very edge of their range. They are not rare, but they are only occasionally collected because they are not very popular with the general public.

hahhahha Thanks guys :)

Phil, thanks for the demographics information. I saw a few 1"er that my LFS said are from Vanuatu, so I was wondering if it's really wild stock or captive breed stock... although I know the Canadian breeders don't really breed them over here.

Ben, in case you haven't notice, I am not in the United States of America but in that little state up there called Canada. So getting some of the captive breeding stuff is not really as easy as you guys in the same country :D Out of that list you provided, I don't think you can even obtain a A.mccullochi on this side of the world at all. Thanks for listing the more 'rare' stuff, I guess for us even a black ocellaris is pretty 'rare' in that sense for us.

I am interested to know which are capable of obtaining t.r. ones out of that list: "omanensis, mccullochi, leucokranos, thiellei, chyrospterus, chyrosgaster, chagosensis, latifascinatus, fusocaudatus, latezonatus".

cheers, vapo

ok yeah i got carried away with myself, i did notice you were in canada. i didnt think it would be hard to get fish over the boarder??

out of the list this would be easier to obtain tr:
leucokranos
chyrospterus
latezonatus

thats it that i can think of.

now i do believe their is one breeding pair of oman, two juvenile pairs of mccul, juvie pairs of latz, and maybe a coupls of pairs of thiellei that are currently in the US. dont quote me though.

now i wouldnt mind getting ahold of some oman to breed
