Alfiani Flasher Wrasse

Is Paracheilinus alfiani available to the hobby? If so, what is the expected price range?

I've decided to go for a trio of flasher wrasses instead of a single centerpiece fish for the 75 gallon. I would love to include that wrasse in my trio if it's available, but there's no information on it.

The other two flasher wrasses would be the eightline flasher wrasse (Paracheilinus octotaenia and the mccosker's flasher wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri.

Not available, and unless it's found to occur elsewhere in the future, likely never will be.

Careful mixing the eightline; it's quite a bit bigger and quite a bit more bold than it's Paracheilinus cousins.

I wouldn't say the mauritus flasher is as nice but I've never seen the 2 in person before.
Plus all the males of the mauritus flasher I have seen are fairly dull. I haven't seen a supermale or one flashing yet. But that's not to say it's not on my list, which it is. Just a lil lower on my list currently. Of course if the right price pops up from a few of my contacts then it would jump a lil higher on the list, lol

That's what I figured, but that's why I asked to be sure.

The eightline is the one I really want. I'll be sure to add that, the mccosker's, and whatever #3 will be at the same time.

Thanks for the info!

I'd love to find a Bells flasher. Lot more money than a diamond tail though. For the money can't beat McCoskers. IMO

$200 for a smaller wrasse that can find a way out of a tank through the smallest holes isn't worth it to me.

Ever since I put a screen on my tank haven't lost a single wrasse. And I have about 30-35 of them. Some ranging from $20-500

Uh guys... my tank is covered. What I'm saying is that I don't want to pay $200+ for a fish that is known to jump. Lots of flashers cost nowhere near $200 and I plan on staying on the lower end of the cost spectrum.

Baldguy, pacificislandaqua has bells currently
Thanks for that. I wasn't sure what going prices are. I have a friend that is working on getting some hopefully a bit cheaper.

Yep, any wrasse can jump. Mike, everybody has an upper limit on what they can spend. When I got in I thought I'd never spend over a hundred. But now the rarity and beauty is worth a premium to me. My upper limit has changed. :)

To each their own man :) No worries!
