Algae clip problem

I'm looking for ideas on the best way to keep large tangs and angels from yanking the nori out of the clips. I have even added a rubberband around the jaws but my Sailfin jerks it right out and then ignores it and it gets stuck on my overflows. Rubberbanding it to a rock is ok but in a 30" deep tank getting the rock back is a pain.

I have seen some algae clips in the stores with the black gutter guard like material that comes with them. It sandwiches the algae in the middle and they have to pic it out of the holes in the mesh

They look like this picture from Marine Depot site

I bought the newer ones that Dan has that have flatter jaws that are about 1.5" wide and have ridges instead of the ones that have a thin strip that grips the nori.
Then I use super glue and glue the suction cup to a medium MagFloat so I can move it down lower and then grab it easy by sliding it up and it floats if needed.

I need to get out there and pick up a new ph probe so i'll look into it. The one i have came from Dan a while back. It does have ridges and is mounted to an acrylic bracket that hangs on the tank edge.

I've seen someone rubberband the nori around a piece of PVC pipe before.

Also a guy had a rock he used for nori which he attatched to fishing line. Dropped it in for feeding, then used the fishing line to pull it out when the fish were done.
