algae eating fish for tank glass?

Hi guys,

What kind of algae eating fish would be compatible in a reef aquarium? I hate algae- especially on the aquarium glass and have heard many people complaining that their glass doesn't stay clean. Are there any fish I can add to my tank (when i get one- still researching everything!) that will minimize the algae on the glass and rocks?

I don't think any fish will be able to keep your glass completely clean ..... but my Kole tang is the only fish that I have that seems to enjoy the glass algae. Other than that, urchins, snails and magnets are the only way I've found to keep the glass clean!

With my tank I lave the back panel alone the only cleaning it gets are snails, urchin, and the Lawnmower blenny. Its speckled and algae covered. I use a magnet on the front a sides and that is the only reason they stay clean. If you want to keep algae at bay you gotta use the magnets and scrub

My Kole Tang, Lawnmower Blenny, and Starry Blenny will leave tons of "kiss" marks on the glass but they do not keep it "clean". My Blue Tuxedo urchin does a slightly better job but depending on the size of your tank, to expect it to do so may be a little far fetched. But in reality - in my tank, I'm the best glass cleaner! :spin2:
