My 75gal Reef has been running for 6 months, it was a 40 gal reef for 2 years before. I use Rowaphos in 2 reactors, also I have a 20 gallon fuge and 250 gal protein skimmer and return to the tank is through a mag 9.5 , I have never had a problem with algae in over 2 years. I recently(2 months ago) put some mangroves from hawai in my fuge and within weeks they suffocated and yellowed, I figured they were prolly freshwater. So I went and got one salt mangrove and it has already popped leaves and is thriving. After about 1 week of introducing the hawai mangrove a very neon green algae started growing(Nothing normal) My tang and conchs and snails love it. Now that all mangroves are out of my tank(except the good one) the algae seems to completly disipate as soon as a turn my lights on( 2 * 250 HQI) But when I wake up in the morning the is a fresh growth . It is very short and is very neon green but it is not slimy at all. and my phosphate tests at 0 consistently with 3 different kits. my calcium is 420ppm.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and also let me know if I forgot to mention anything.
