I whooped the new tank algae. My di was bad and got the mixed bed resin pro. I scrubbed the rocks with the flow off. Siphoned our the sand bed with new di water about 7 percent. I blasted the mp 40s with 100% constant return pump off put filter floss in a water bottle and made a diy diatom filter hooked to a mag 5 and did a 3 day blackout. Now it’s too clean Hahahah
During the blackout I was watching the pods I have only added one bottle of pods and have been trying to populate with a mesh bag and loofa I saw many pods for the first time. I’m concerned about both nitrate and phosphate both being so low for other algae’s to take off. Last time when I set this tank up I got Cyano bad but that was before the VorTechs and I started with bound up phosphates In my rocks vs this time. I think for the help program should offer a rock or two with bio diversity to start member tanks with old school live rock or there is beginning a trend with dry rock and nuisance algae and some initial struggle with sps.
i love this idea, as im starting up a large tank too. I would personally quarantine the rock but even just a softball size would be a good start. Certainly when my tank is up and running id offer anyone some rock.
