Algae on SPS frags

I recently picked up a number of different SPS frags that, overall are in good shape, but have a few small bare spots.

Now there is algae growing on the bare spots. On one, I used a tooth brush to try to scrape it off, but a couple of days later it was growing back again.

All frags were dipped in Revive before being added to the frag tank, but I guess that wasn't enough.

How do I treat?

Its natural for algae to grown in dead spots of a coral. It sounds like its growing from your tank and is not something you brought in on the coral, so don't worry about it. Just let it do its thing.

I agree that the algae was not introduced with the frags. My concern is that the algae will cause a problem with the frags.

Once I had a candy cane that had been neglected. Hair Algae started growing on it, and eventually the algae seemed to overwhelm the coral. I had even tried to pull and tooth brush the hair algae off, but it grew right back and I couldn't seem to get ahead of it.

In the display tank where I lost the Candy Cane phospates were zero (based on a Hanna colorimeter at a club meeting). Don't really know what they are in the frag tank, but the frag tank gets its water in 30% water changes from the display tank every 3-4 weeks.

Guess I'll have to dig out my phosphate test kit and test the frag tank.

i have an algae problem and i dosed too much alk, my hydnophora stn alot, but i brought it back. In the meantime algae grew all over the thing but the coral just kills it and now there is no lgae and only a little bare spot on the original colony. My ORA blue voodoo gets his growth caps bit off by a blenny and algae grows on those too until the tissue grows back over. As long as its just GHA and its not blocking the light i think you are ok
