algae only in sand bed

I have clumpy, little balls of green algae in my tank. I only find them in the sand bed. No other nuisance algae anywhere in the tank. I scoop out piles of little algae balls and then find more of them the next day. Should I just go bare bottom for a while or what? Pretty frustrating. Tank chems are pretty much perfect and i'm not what i can do to improve water quality. I have plenty of clean up crew too.

Pictures would be helpful in identification and judging how bad the problem is. Please provide some..

Likely just bubble algae which if its in the sand bed makes it easy enough to just manually remove..
I wouldn't do something as drastic as removing the sand bed.

If its film covering the sand thats probably cyano algae. You can increase flow on those areas, or siphon it out of the tank with a hose.

Same problem here. It's like a film covering some of my sand. Is just stirring it around okay?

Adamantium Not sure how you came to the conclusion that a film covering the sand vs clumpy green balls in the sand are the same problem..

As stated a "film" with bubbles in it may be cyanobacteria..
Again a picture here is really helpful...

You might want to just start your own thread when you have those pictures to not hijack this one as its likely that these are 2 different issues..

Ah, you're totally right. I misread that. Gotta be more careful.
