Not algea, diatom. To fix do a 15 gallon water change. You can use chemi clean to take care of it, and cut the light back to 7 hours. Not enough flow and over feeding may be the cause of it. New tank symdrone.

be patient, do your water changes and it will eventually remove itself, i've had the same problem for the past few weeks and it has now settled.

you say be patient but i've had it for over 6 months... and it driving me mad... I thought it was Dinoflagellates is this the same thing..

Way too slimy/snotty to be diatoms, I'd say Dinoflagellates. Dinoflagellates are one of the nasty ones, you should run agressive protein skimming, Use RO/DI water, run GFO, decrease feeding, increase water changes etc... I don't ussually belive in chemical means , but if you have done the normal, nutrient reduction methods for over 6 months, you might resort to something like Algone. I've heard it still takes a while but does work. Unfortunately, this algae is not easy to get rid of.

Also, some people have reported elevated pH can help.

I did think it was to slimy for diatoms, as i thought they were more of a dusting. I've just won a Proficiensea BVS450 protein Skimmer off ebay which it says will run a 2000 liter tank so i'm going to add that as well. Now going to look up algone..
And whats GFO (sorry but if i don't ask i wont no)
