algae problem

My tank is being overtaken by some type of alage. Im not sure what kind it is but nothing seems to be eating it. Ive got hermit crabs and snails and tangs. I have turned out the lights for 48 hours and still nothing.

Also purple algea is taking over my sandbed, whats the best way to clean it out without making a mess?

how old is the tank.
Cyano usually comes out about 6 months after a tank is setup.

and looks like turf algae growing on the rocks. could be bad rock or just cycling.
where did you get the rock? and how was it treated before using it?

lastly, snails and crabs can eat that, but its possible that its growing faster then its being eaten.

If you have a decent skimmer you may want to consider vodka dosing.

all rock was dried and bleached way before it was placed in the tank.

tank is over a year old.

i was vodka dosing but then stopped and now this is back, so im going to start again.

i also lost my crabs to a trigger, so he has to go, and get new crabs.

Do you have any tangs? They help eat algae too

This happened to my tank and I dosed with Hydrogen Peroxide.
