Would be nice to know more about your tank---
size
livestock
water parms
type of lights
type of water used.

As for the sunlight hitting it -- IMO that isn't the problem, mine gets direct sunlight each day and I have no issues with algae.

it is 70 gallon tank, i didn't measure anything much but 8.0 pH. I am using 1 metal halide in the middle and direct sunlight comes in an hour a day. The algae is really hard to scrape off and in the past 5 weeks it keeps on growing.

Hard to scrape off may be coraline algae, Good stuff. What color is it? I take a razor to my front and side glass to clear it off. Hair algae on the other hand should come off easily. Snails can help there. I also have a pincushion urchin that loves any kind of algae and is a fantastic cleaner. They are nature's reef cleaners.

Other tips, watch your feeding as we tend to overfeed. Watch your phosphates, phosban reactors are cheap and effective. Keep adding cleaners, snails and crabs, and maybe an urchin to keep algae in check, and to clean up any leftover food. Mine go nuts at feeding time. Flow, more flow, did I say flow? When I added the stream pumps it made a world of difference.
