Algae Scraper Work Out Off Water?

Well, I'm going to be removing my refugium, and I thought as I am washing it out, I thought I would clean off all the algae for a fresh start. So, can you use the Hand Held Kent Pro Scraper w/ Acrylic blade out of water, or should I fill up the sump with tap so I can scrape it?
PS: the sump is acrylic

Hi,

I would recommend filling the refugium with tap water to scrape it. You could scrape with it dry, but the chance of scratching will be increased, as well as it just being more difficult in general to scrape any coralline algae, etc.

Thanks for the help- will fill with tap, then rinse out when done.
