Algae type?

I have always had a light covering of brown/green dust on my glass that I am sure is some type algae. It is easly removed with a magnet scraper but I would like to find the source of it. What type algae would it most likely be? Is it likely caused from too many nutrients in the water? Is this just a comon issue that a magnet is used for?:fun5:

It is diatoms, or some other micro algae. Its normal to see this and yes, this is what glass cleaners are used for.

I am sure that is mostlikely is diatoms, but not sure.

There is no way to be sure unless you have a microscope and a decent camera (or are good at identifying microalgaes).

It is probably a mix of algaes. I used to get a very short (less than 1mm) green hair algae film on my reeftank.

Even if your good at identifying microalgaes, you can't do it without a good microscope
