Hello Reef Central,
I have a 37 gallon with a 10g sump, and it is about 1 1/2 month old. I have been having a algae issue for a few weeks now. It's brown looking stuff. I believe it's diatoms but not completely sure, it is possible it could be dinos but it does not look like snot. The algae does have some bubbles on it, but the algae with the bubbles on it could just be diatoms that got microbubbles on it from the return jet as some microbubbles come out of it. Most of thr algae does not have any bubbles on it. It is growing on the rocks mostly and on the back glass as I have not scraped it. It takes a few weeks for it to start growing on the sand. Any advice on what i should do? Will it go away on its own? For filtration im running a bubble magus curve 5, filter socks and 10g water change every 1-2 weeks. Current stock is a clownfish pair. Last time I tested nitrates was a few days ago and it was about 10. Not sure phosphate as I do not have a kit for that yet. Running LED ocean revives for about 10 hours as well. Any advice on what i should do??
