I have a problem with this type of alge that grows on my glass. this stuff is very hard to get off i have scraped and scrubed at itwith alll my might. I have been able to get a small porsion of it off but iot just grows back. Now to tell you about my habits of the tank i have 1 10k light on for about 6 hours a day and feed my fish every 2 days. I have snails and urchins to try to help but they can only eat so fast is there any one that cantell me how to cut this back even further I would like to see my fish not alge.

What color is it? It sounds like its calcearous. Is your tank glass or acrylic? What are you using to remove it? and lastly how much time passes between glass cleaning?

diatoms can be oretty tough too if you let them go for a while. I second graveyardworm's questions though. Color? Glass or Acrylic? Time lapse?

I think I know what yore talking about, and I have it too. Bright green correct?? I leave it on the back wall and use a razor to scrape iot off the front and sides every 1-2 weeks. Mine doesnt grow that fast anymore.

I got it when I had some nutrient problems from using tap water for topoffs (I now know that was stupid but I didnt know any better) Since then Ive gotten the nutrients under control, and added some macroalgae (halimeda and a bunch of gracillaria on a veggie clip so my tang can graze) which seem to be controlling it. Enough so that I havent had to scrape the front of sides for a few weeks now.

I have one of those scrapers. It does not get it off. but a razor blade did and i cleaned my filters at the same time and found about 10 little worms. that was so awsome for me.
