What is the best way to remove the red calcium algea from glass?

I use a razor blade.

I've been trying a razor blade but it doesn't seem to be working this is tough stuff.

Make sure you use single edge razor blades and lots of elbow grease. I keep it off the front glas of my tank, but I've given up on the back and sides. My coraline is mostly purple though so it looks kind of nice.

I've had good luck w/ a piece of acrylic a little bigger than a playing card....allows for good leverage. If the acrylics got a nice edge the coralline comes off rather easy. I use a piece of acrylic that "was a frameless" picture frame. Kind of like the table tents at restaurants. HTH
