Alk ph again

So I recalibtated the pinpoint and put it on my mixed reef last night. It read a 7.7 at night. Today, with lights on it was a 7.6. I added some kent super skyhook buffer, and it rose to a 7.75 as of now. I checked all last night and it was 6.5 so I thought it was low.

Could it be the salt I'm using? Reef crystals, I was thinkin of switching to Red Sea coral pro.

Should i keep buffering to get it to 8 dkh or so?

OK I got it, the word all is supposed to be alk.

Yes I'd want to get the alkalinity up. That's what you dose the buffer for. Don't use the buffer for pH.

RC generally has a fairly high alk, so I don't see it being the salt. Do you regularly dose alkalinity? Do you have a lot of stony corals or corraline algae that could be using it up?

4 sps frags, no coralline in 60 gal tank. I don't ever buffer, I just do weekly 10 gallon changes and it always seems to be an 8 alk.
