Does anyone know if alk is consumed evenly throughout a 24 hour period or does it peak at different times over the day. Reason I'm asking is I have a small tank so my alk is consumed fast to the point of from 9.5 to about 7.6 right befor the doser comes on at 8 pm. I was wondering If I cold do half the dose at 8am and half at 8 pm to keep the swing down.

I dont know for sure but i would assume it varies. If a coral gets stressed it focuses its energy on recuperating instead of growing. Also if you scrape coraline off glass that would reduce consumption ect. Just food for though.

It does vary for sure.

I was pulling my hair out trying to adjust my dosing pump when testing 3x per day.

It was much easier to dial in when testing every 24hrs.

I'm good at 24 hours. Just seeing if I could space it out. Also I keep glass free of coraline. My sps are doing fine just trying to stable things up. I have had them for about 3 weeks my green cap is brown and my Bali green as well but my acro (unknown) is just fine

Sry i understand your question now, it is best practice to dose less, as often as possible over a 24 period. Most people dose every hour.

Exactly. This way it reduces the stress of a large influx of alk and also has less impact on PH

If your dosing via dosing pump try dosing every hour at night. Will keep your ph up and provide the alk needed.
