alk test

I'm not sure, but if your pool has a liner, there is absolutely no need to test the alkalinity (despite what the folks at the pool store tell you)...

The Salifert alkalinity test measures carbonate hardness and will work in freshwater. It will not tell you general hardness. I don't know anything about pools so I'm not sure when a pool person says "alkalinity" what exactly they're referring to - words like alkalinity, hard, soft, etc seem to have different meanings in different circles.

Alk in a pool is really just used to anchor ph and prevent corrosive water. Although a pool with a liner isn't affected by the acidity of the water, your hardware will ( pumps, filters, heaters etc.
