okay I just started having some more problems with my tank with stuff dying on me. I think I have found the source of it but am not sure. My alk was reading really high on my test kit. It was at 2.9 or 3.0. Thing is I am not sure what to do about it or even if this will kill live stock. Please help if any more information is needed I will try my best to explain I just don't won't to loss anything else.

What units are you talking reading- meq/L or dKH? 8-9dKH or 2.86-3.21meq/L is roughly what ocean water is. Mine ran around 18dKH (Ca around 250...) for a week or two when I hooked up the Ca Rx (and didn't check as often as I should have). I turned off the reactor (or stop adding chemicals if that be the case) and added calcium supplements (if one is really high, the other is usually really low, but check before adding). I didn't lose anything, though.
