All in one filtration?

That is basically jsut a fuge, sump all prebuilt and ready to go. I would think it would work just fine. The only question I would have would be the skimmer, I have no experience with that one.

The downdraft skimmer is being heralded by some as the "next generation" skimmer.

I actually like the set-up. Theoretically sound, IMHO, but I have no expereience with it.

I think down draft skimmers are actually some of the earliest designs. Despite this ETSS makes proven skimmers. They require pressure rated pumps with decent flow rates so power is any issue.

The ETSS skimmers rock! I own 2 of them and they beat anything else in there size. Very effective, and pull gallons of nasty skimate, but they do require bigger pumps to operate correctly. The smaller ones work fine with a mag drive, but a pressure pump is required to work with the larger downdraft skimmers they offer. They definitely work as advertised, but do cost more to operate. Support at ETSS is very helpful and can recommend a skimmer to fit your requirements. They were very helpful when I had questions both before and after the sale.
