All-in-one Tank Options

I just downsized from a 90 RR w/ 40gal sump to a JBJ 28 Nano Cube (LED) and I love it.
I did a lot of searching before choosing the jbj. I almost went with a RSM but they are a bit overpriced and they are really tall so they're hard to get into without a step stool from what I understand. I wanted the largest AIO I could find and the 34gal RSM was the largest reasonable one but like I said, expensive and tall.
The LED JBJ is great, no heat from the LEDs so no need for a chiller, lots of options for mods and upgrades, reasonable size for an AIO nano, etc...
If you're looking for a larger tank that's "AIO" I'd just go for a regular 50 gal with a HOB sump/fuge that you can put a skimmer, heaters, and probes in.
Just my opinion but I hope it helps.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!

After studying the Volcano Tank, I'm seriously considering going down that route.

My plan is to have a basket/acrylic box in the center of the aquarium. This box would be able to surface skim the water. Inside the box would be an ASM skimmer, probably a mini or 1. The box and skimmer would be concealed by a mountain structure out of live rocks, with half in the water / half out of the water.

Also inside the box would be a maxijet powerhead with tubing, pumping water up to the top of the rock mountain, plumbed to allow it to trickle down the mountain slowly back into the tank. A Heater would also be in or near the box.

Rockwork would be held together with zip ties, possibly with a PVC structure.

That tank was so amazing, I might just jump and do this!

Oh and considering the use of a 34x34x10 acrylic tank for this job...

Opinions/ ideas?

Steve

How many people use the Solana tank here?

I know Dulski has one, Markheim and ARC have them...

How many URS members have one?

Hi, still cycling my jbj tank. My son recommended a Tunxe 9200 skimmer for it. Does that replace the media basket? I don't see where else it would go.

I used to. Just took it down(don't have the time to enjoy it as much) and I loved it. Easy to mod as well. Plenty of room in the back chambers to work with.

It fits in the center compartment and you will have to cut off the magnet from the skimmer and notch the lip of the tank to fit it in. It's a little work but well worth the effort.
