Allardi clowns no home

ok..we have paired allardi clown fish that were bought with an anemene (Sebae). Apparently we were sold an anemene that was too small to host them and they loved it to death !

I'm being told we need a 6 inch base BTA and can't find one that big anywhere...

Is it possible to have two BTA that they would go to ? Or is that too much to ask....

They actually went to my flowerpot coral and killed that too !

any suggestions out there ???

How long has your rank been set up? When did you put the anemone and coral in? How long did it take for your clowns to "kill" the theml?

Hey,

If you get lucky I know a reefer who has a 2 large clowns and 2 LTAs. 1 clown hosts in each LTA (kinda like they are divorced).

Otherwise, if you don't mind something odd, clowns will host in anything, so you can buy them something like an ornamental bell etc.

Our clownfish host in an ornamental bell (FOWLR) and they love it, clownfish will host in anything they can... even the corner of your tank.

My tank is 5 months old. The clowns were purchased with the Anemene - they already bonded ! The Anemene kept moving trying to get away but they would find her....within a month it was dead. Then last month we purchased a flowerpot coral...probably shouldn't have but didn't know any better. They started to host in the coral, but two fish were too much !
i'm hoping i can get two BTA and see what happens. I can't wait until a 6in BTA becomes available....very impatient.....

What kind of lighting do you have?

How long was the tank set up before you tried the anemone and then flowerpot?

What are your tank parameters?

How big are the clowns?

You don't need an anemone for them -- they'll do just fine in your tank without one.

We know we were sold the flowerpot and didn't know it would be difficult to keep it. It was really doing well until the clowns starting hosting in it. Then the polyps starting to die off. The lighting is appropriate for what we have (can't remember exactly) and tank is 5 months old. over 125lbs of live rock.
I know I don't need an anemene for them....but I love watching them interact ..ok maybe it's selfish !
We might have found a BTA with a six inch base going to get it tonight....keep your fingers crossed !!
Thanks for your feedback, it's appreciated

I don't think it's selfish to want to watch the interaction. I was just wondering if it wasn't the fish that killed the anemone, but conditions in the tank. And if you haven't fixed the conditions, then the same thing might happen again. And anemones are gross when they die. :)

You don't know your lighting?

IMO you need to be intimately familiar with your tank before you start trying to keep such difficult creatures.
