allardi pair think they did a switch

I had this pair for a year in the last 6 weeks the male grew twice the size of the female and beat the crap out of her. and kicked her out of the anemone. could it be that the female will not produce eggs and the male turned to a female and took over the roll. If so should i get a smaller male to take the place of the old female. They have a small male at my lfs they will switch with me.

I know from first hand experience that could be true! I had a pair of true percs paired up for 3 years. The male was always smaller, and the 2 even showed spawning behavior. I added a nem, and over 6 months, the male ended up growing the same size as the female, and started acting aggressive. I refused to believe the he turned female as well until I saw them locking jaws one day! So insane. Needless to say, I got another tinier male for the one that turned female!

Yeah it can happen. I had a pair of akindynos do the same thing.
