Almost 11 foot long tank!

i understand your point erics3000 and as far as that goes there are four cross braces that are perfectly level with the top of the stand, and i am under that thing almost everyday for one reason or another. and i can assure u and everyone else(crackedbottom) that the bottom sheet of glass does not touch any of the four braces. and as soon as i get the opportunity i will take the pictures to back that statement up.and as far as negative criticisim goes it doesnt bother me one bit. i am just curious why crackedbottom has such an interest in this particular setup, and why he or she is being so critical and outright rude on this one setup out of the hundreds that are posted here

thanks to everyone for the input positive and negative on my tank. i am glad to see all the interest everyone has taken in it. and id especially like to thank jeremy for all the countless hours of labor and for maintaining this thread. the first thing that i would like to comment on is crackedbottoms concern for the stand, i assure u that the stand is plenty strong for this system. a personal friend(that is a licensed contractor) and myself constructed it. he and i have built almost every one of my stands and never had a problem. i will have jeremy post pics of the construction of it so you can see that evry brace and edge has been doubled or tripled and reinforced. and besides if he can construct a frame that is strong enough to support the weight of a house im sure the same type of framing (especially with alot of reinforcement) will support this tank.

Welcome to RC bro!

Sweet tank!

THe thing is, some of these people are saying that the glass needs to touch the stand, where 99% of all tanks and stands that is not the case.

I believe everyone is referring to people with large rimmed tanks who put styrofoam or some other type of cushioning/leveling material under so it has more support.

yeah.. But some people do come out rude. maybe not on purpose. Anyway enjoy your project and keep the pics coming. I guess I am what they call here a picture junkie...

Great looking tank. Can't wait to see more pictures. Any thoughts on what your stocking list looks like?

Great Tank, Good luck with it. I just hope that the floor beneath it is braced, I dont think gallons was mentioned, but it is very easy to calculate using the dimensions. That is one heavy tank for normal house construction. As for the stand, people should take an empty tank and look at the bottom, the tank sits on plastic with the glass not touching anything, so why would the stand need to have a flat surface on it, the stand is clearly built fine and it will do the job, and PLEASE keep the pics coming. I cant wait for the fish! You got a dream tank there...

Pretty close on the gallons the display is approx. 340 and the sump is approx. 100. there are approx. 480lbs of live rock. lots of softies all of the other corals that are posted on here. as far as livestock so far there are a huge pair of maroon goldstripes a pair of large (but very tame) blue fiji damsels 2 large yellowtangs (that get along perfectly) 1 verigated rabbitfish 1 arabian basslet 1 strawberry basslet 1 banana wrasse. and future live stock will include a small school of anthias 6 to 8 lubbocks wrasses a few flasher wrasses a blonde naso tang hopefully an achilles tang. a hippo tang id like to include a clown tang but doubt it because of their track record. a powder blue tang a group of purple firefish a few gobies and whatever else comes along.

As a contractor, I overbuilt my stands to the point of ridiculousness. When I walk into a LFS and see the stands made by Oceanic or All Glass I gasp. I can't believe how poorly they are made, with such little support. At the end of the day, they work fine and comply with warranty standards. Maybe I'm the weirdo.

I went over to look at his tank last night. It is absolutely amazing! Good job man and thinks for getting me into the hobby! People are going to go nuts when they see the pics.
