from my remora 120gallon rated skimmer. the powerheads swallow them and shoot them everywhere. its ugly! how do i syop them? could it be my pump is too strong??? its a huge pump....also when the water leve goes down...where the hose connects to the pump and the water level is lower it reveals a spot in the pump where there is a leak but not a sucking leak its a pouring leak. in other words when the water level gets lower, theres a leak where water is squirting out of the hose where the pump is attached. i dont think that would be it since its nit sucking air rather than pushing water out...

someone help me out i hate them

if water can come out air can go in repair leak. also do you use a sponge on your pick up when they get clogged they can make the pump suck in air

I agree. I would repair the leak and then see how it looks. How much flow do you have going thru the sump?

a remora pro has a Mag3 pump. i would replace it with a MJ-1200 or place live rock in your sump to raise the water level. but, if you do that is your sump gonna overflow in case of power outage?
it sounds like the sump is too shallow for the skimmer to me.

forgot to mention i dont have a sump it hangs on back. i have a hang on back fuge as well. its a hang on back remora and the pump is massive...repaired leak and still got bbbles...

Have you tried adjusting the air inlet down a tiny bit? You may have to lower your cup after doing this. The mag 3 is one of the preferred pumps for the Remora Pro, and should be sized correctly. I have some experience with an urchin (same principle) and would adjust the air down a little for a try.

what do u mean inlet down? and no no sponges...the water flow is just simply falling hard creating bubbles even though it looks like its pouring.

Assuming that the Remora is identical to the Urchin (I think so), under the collection cup you should see the elbow where the water goes into the skimmer. The elbow will have a nylon screw in it. Gently turn the crew clockwise maybe an 1/8 of a turn. If you put a sponge in the outlet of the Remora, the sponge should break up the micro bubbles, just be careful not to clog the outlet. You might overflow the skimmer. Otherwise, I would contact AquaC and see what they have to say. Do you still have the manual?

well if u mean the arm that attaches to the pump i replaced it with another one from lowes... its like plastic....so i should use a sponge on the outlets?

I mean the elbow on the inside of the skimmer box, under the collection cup. The screw on the elbow is the air inlet adjustment. The sponge will break up the micro bubbles, but you need to be careful not to overflow the skimmer.

wouldnt the sponge fall out with the flow? or nvm i guess i can use some kind of rubberband or something. so i adjust a screw inside the skimmer which is viewable and adjuatable by removing the cup? what way to adjust or what?

Try gently turning the screw 1/8 of a turn clockwise. This should choke off the air a little. It will also lower the level in the skimmer and you will need to re-adjust your cup height.

the cup has a height? cuz i just drop mine in there and it stays... i bought the skimmer used so maybe thats why it was already adjusted...how do i change the cups height? so if i turn clockwise it will pick up more water or less? is that heavier skimming or less? and what height do i put the cup?

Get a sump, Problem solved.
Next!

how helpful!

IME, micro bubbles after the water has been through a pump are always caused by air entering the intake. you have two choices;

either a) find the source and stop it... this could be by lowering the pump intake in the water (adding extra pipe)

or b) raise the outlet so it is actually above, or at, the surface, and the bubbles get forced across the surface, not down into the tank

Aqua C makes a return box for inside your tank. It is large and takes up space, but should solve your problem. The mag 3 sits in one half and the discharge returns to the other half, which has a sponge in the bottom and should keep the bubbles out of your tank.
