Almost seems unreal.

Okay, I guess they put valium in the water then. Normally sea creatures react to one another. You know, occasionally speed up or slow down, turn quickly. But believe what you like. :)

i'm not trying to be negative, but maybe you should watch the video again and pay attention to a couple different shoals getting broken up and darting off, and then regroup. not the mention a few other fish darting around when they get spooked by the bigger occupants. and if I go by that (you know the lack of speeding up and turning quickly), then every single cardinal fish i've seen at the LFS or in other tanks are CG, again not trying ta be negative just pointing out what you obviously missed.

EDIT: cool video Btw...

Watched it agian. The dude that keeps holding his arms out is a goon. Bugged the hell out of me the first time too.

Watch the schooling fish when a Tuna gets near. They scatter.

The Whale Shark thing bugged me too. I also thought they'd never been kept alive in captivity. Atleast for not very long. Couldn't imagine there is enough in that tank for all those Plankton eaters. Even if that thing was plumbed to the outside I don't think they'd get enough.

Unless they rotate their stock by setting those free and replacing them. But I doubt that. Not to slam Asians, but I don't think their the most Eco friendly nations out there. Especially when it comes to sea life. Always looking for the next crazy fad food or aphrodisiac.

I had a vertebrate zoology professor that has been and he said it was amazing. I'm not sure if it's that tank, but they have one that's really deep and actually has specific thermoclines that different animals inhabit and don't cross. He was also saying they were the first to successfully keep whale sharks long term. I'd be willing to bet they do a good job feeding those big guys what they need. They've got to have massive filtration set ups, and then the back up of NSW water changes make it even easier to maintain water quality and still feed heavily.

I was at the Atlanta Aquarium in May and it was spectacular. They have 2-3 of those guys swimming, as well as mantas.

Can you imagine just watching them build the window? I mean, i am amazed by the acryilc DIY sump builds here, but damn.

Awesome video, thank you for sharing! Is it really hard to fathom that there are other countries out there that are way better than us when it comes to technology? It's definitely real.

I would love to work for that aquarium! :eek2:

;D

Honestly its not a shop, Georgia Aquarium's tank is twice the size of this one. I'd kill to scuba dive in there!

If I'm not wrong Discovery or National Geographic channel has a documentary about this place. The acrylic that you are looking at is not made of a single piece but multiple panel of acrylic joint together on site.

yea, I saw the same show, I believe it was on Man Made Marvels on the Discovery Channel. Looks like the Georgia Aquarium has some competition

Oh you're very welcome!

I honestly didn't think it was real at first either but then when you get around the middle of the video you start to see normal behaviour.

As for the sharks they don't really dart around too much in real life either. If you look at videos of reef sharks, they sort of just swim around the reef along with other shoals of fish until they get hungry. I think it's the fact that video is so high def and the camera is not moving is what makes it seem unreal.

This thread is a prime example of Mister-Know-It-All trying to impress people of his knowledge when it is actually something that is real. I think we should leave these Mister-Know-It-All in their own world and move on.

This still looks fake to me. I just visited the Georgia Aquarium and the animals looked and behaved totally different. I have no doubt that the aquarium exists or that this might be real video but to my eyes it does look fake. Of couse it would make little sense to cgi it if you have access to the real thing....

I wonder what size Mag-Float they use to clean the glass...
About 230 lbs...

its a guy named Chuck.

It is certainly a technological marvel, video enhanced or not.
Still, there is something disturbing about the whole thing. It seems unnatural, in a profound kind of way. No part of the sea looks anything like that aquarium. It reminds me of a herd of penned cattle. It's technically awe inspiring, but I find it aesthetically unpleasant. I suppose it's just another zoo. Bigger and better than the competition, supersized, but still a huge aquatic zoo, with the Disneyesque excesses of a megacircus sideshow. I'm sure it's extremely entertaining, a great place to take the kiddies. Maybe they also have trained dolphins.
It's just not my thing, and I hope my modest little aquatic hobby has nothing in common with that place.
