I just wanted to check in. I'm glad to see a lot of familiar faces going strong as well as some new folks. Beth and I are doing well here on Maui. I still don't miss having a tank as I'm on the reefs nearly every day here but I do really miss you guys and gals!

I recently finished all my training and am now working as a SCUBA Instructor and Dive Guide for a really great dive operation on the west side of Maui. If any of you make it out here, look me up and I'll get you underwater. We go to some really spectacular sites on Maui, Lanai, Molokai, and Molokini Crater. Even when I'm not on the boat Beth and I are often shore diving and your welcome to join. If you're not certified contact me ahead of time and I can set you up.

Malama Pono,

Nick

Glad you are having fun and not missing the hobby. I bet you get to see new stuff every day out there. Wish I had a couple $K to pop out and dive with you...

I might be there next year. Friends of mine are trying to talk me into vacationing there September 2018.

That's gotta be ruff jumping into that tank everyday

Hey Nick, glad to hear you guys are doing well! Hopefully you'll still be there by the time I can scrape up enough money and find time to make that trip. Been wanting to get certified for years and now the boys are old enough to get certified too. Did Beth ever settle into a job out there, or is she still living on island time?

I've got more kids than you can shake a stick at to kick out of the house before I make my way over to the islands. Hopefully you are still there by then and I'm still kicking. Good to hear someone I know is "living the dream".

I'm working on that. My old underwater camera crapped out before we came here. I'm slowly working out what I want to get to replace it.

Awesome!

I think will be on Maui at least another year. We're looking for a new place now. If we move after that it will likely be to the Big Island or Lanai. How old are your boys now?

Beth is working part-time for an upscale fitness studio that offers amongst other classes: pilates, yoga, aerial gymnastics and yes...

...wait for it...

... pole dancing and twerking!

She hasn't attended the last two classes yet though :(

Boys are 14 now and starting high school next week.

If you can get her into the last 2.classes you really will be living the island dream!

Sounds like you guys are living the good life:beer: Pole dancing is extreme exercise, so be careful:D I miss both of you and feel like I've known you guys all my life after reading Beth's Pacific Crest Trail diary. Ann and I are overdue for sure to see the islands. The last time we went to Maui it was building up fast.

ill be heading back out in january.

you need to goto dakitchen in kahului and get the teriyaki beef

We'll be out there again this fall for two weeks. Hoping to make it a yearly thing. We'll be in Makaha, Oahu, where we stayed last fall. We probably should visit the other islands, but I cannot imagine any spot being better than Makaha.
We're flying the kids out, 2 at a time, for a week each. If they want to jump to another island for a day, I'll entertain the idea.
I'd would like to see Ocean Riders seahorse farm on the Big Island.

That's a good age to get them started

Get out here. Its certainly built up a bit but its still easy to escape the tourists when you want to.

Have you been to Star Noodle in Lahaina?

I have not but I've heard great things.

Nice, we'll check it out

I'm on Oahu right now for drill as my new National Guard unit is in Kapolei and I fly in about one a month. Unfortunately, I haven't had much opportunity to explore the island much. I've been to Schofield, Pearl Harbor, and Waikiki but that's about it. I'd like to get out of the city a explore the island more.

Beth and I love the Big Island, particularly the Kona side. We could see ourselves there possibly in a year or two. Very good diving as well.
