Alpha 170

I´m working in my new reef and I would like to buy the alpha 170

But I saw this video in youtube with a lot of micro bubbles :

This problem is already fixed in the alpha that are in stock now ???

That alpha is not set-up right.

See how the bubbles come down to and below the bubble plate on the outside? That means it is getting to little air and to much water. The bubbles on the outside should never come down to the bubble plate.

Besides the set-up, I heard that was some change in his impeller or voluta

There is a v2 version of 170 ?

I´m in doubt about the 170 or mini BK 180

There was a design change on the volute. They sent out new ones to anyone with the old volute so you really shouldn't see any with out the new adjustable one.

As far as the 170 vs the mini im not a expert on the mini's so no idea. I assume your not using this on your 45 gallon right? Cause neither would be a good choice for it.

I will use in my new reef, a SPS reef with 70G

I´m using in my 45G a Deltec AP 701, this is a huge skimmer for a 45G, but this is the way that I like, things are going very well

In my opinion, the Alpha 170 should work just fine for you. The 170 falls inbetween the Mini 180 and Mini 200 performance wise. I use an Alpha 170 on a 75g office tank I have, and it works wondefully.

Also, as posted above, the 170 is completely updated, with an adjustable venturi, as well as a different size inlet/outlet and impeller.

The pump in the 170 is the red dragon 1000 ?

And what is the red dragon pump in the Mini bk 180 ?

What is the best water column to work with 170 ?

Red Dragon 1000, although the exact same motorblock that the Mini uses, based off an Askoll 1500.

The 170 will want to be in 9" - 9.5", while the Mini will like 7.5" - 8.5" sump depth.
