Alpheus spp. (tiger pistol shrimp) larvae - photos

After a year, I finally caught my pistol shrimp pair releasing their larvae! I still haven't figured out their reproductive schedule yet, since the female is so secretive.

These larvae are VERY phototropic. Even a slight glow from the other room attracted them. In size, they are comparable to YWG larvae, and the hatch was fairly close to the number of larvae as the goby hatches.

I don't have anyway to take pictures through a microscope anymore (that camera died), so this is the best I can do.

Hello,
great ! I experienced this some times with my Alpheus randalli. They had a tiny red dot at the tail end.
Do you try to raise them?

Bye Erik
