Well, might as well bring this thread back up. I aint going anywhere today. My wifes stuck up in a Motel 8 in Parker since yesterday. Took me forever to get home yesterday and had to find an alternate route home since they shut down Hwy 24. Driving againts the wind and snow on Markshuffel was not fun at all. Hope you guys stay home and be warm. Murph, I bet you are at work huh?
Same here, took me from noon to 5pm to get home yesterday, and that was with a 4x4 truck! White outs, black ice ah Colorado in the winter!
in reality I was VERY lucky to make it home, all roads but one(a remote back road) was shut going into and out of the rock bearly made it, but I did.
Oh stopped in Parker to fill the tank in case I had to sleep in the truck LOL
The big dig out begins in a little bit, I have a cool 6' snow drift across my drive and the whole street is a good 3' plus deep!
yeah we've got a drift thats taller than me, good thing I have a bobcat with a heated cab and a stereo, or i dont know what I'd be doing :bum:
On a side note, I am so glad i didnt go to DIA yesterday and get stuck there, can you imagine the thousands of people stranded, hopefully they have enough food and all.
Chris
I went to work but they called it off last nite... For the reason of Ft Carson was closed... No one even called me so i can sleep in.. But i am not complainin i get a nother paid day off..!!!!
Originally posted by reefkoi you have a jeep though right? 4-wheel drive is such a nice thing to have in this weather.
I parked my great big Sears garden tractor at the top of the hill in my driveway facing down the hill so I could get a running start down the hill to make the first cut through the snow this morning. There was no sign of the tractor under the 5 foot drift this morning. Time for Plan B.
I borrowed my neighbor's 4WD Kubota tractor with bucket and blade. The blade was of no use. The snow was drifted 5 feet in places and 2 feet depth in between....plowed his driveway with the front bucket, did the same down the road to my driveway, then again up my driveway. Even with the tractor I had to make room to the side of the path just to find a spot to dump the snow. It was waaay too deep just to plow through.
I can remember several big snow storms growing up in Colorado Springs, and trying to drive in it so y’all be careful. My wife and I are leaving for a 7 day Christmas cruise in the morning and looking at the weather reports it should be nice. Also it looks like you guys may be getting storm.
You can see the snow is up to the top of the bed on my truck, that's about 5' and the bump across the street is my sons car LOL
This was taken Thursday morning
All dug out now for the most part
Safe to say we will have a white Christmas this year
I almost got a third day off, as of last night there wasn't any way into work. Sadily they finally plowed Voyager in the wee hours of the morning so the office opened at 10am. We got lucky in that we faced the same way as the people across from Calvin, but somehow the back window of my Xterra was left open about an inch. So while digging the front door out wasn't too bad, I did have to dig the inside of my truck out. Got to thank the house ghost for that little gem of a joke. I can't wait until we finally get enough boxes unpacked in the garage so that we can park in there.
