Alternatives to super glue?

I'm getting tired with trying to fight with super glue gel when gluing coral to rocks.

Is there some type of putty I could use or something that is easier to work with and more forgiving than super glue or super glue gel?

Thanks.

I like epoxy putty. You can buy it at home depot for like 5 bucks a stick, its called Aquamend. And true, its big and white at first like playdoh on the rock, but eventually coraline and algae grows on it and it looks exactly like the rock. Its so much easier to deal with than superglue.

What are the problems with super glue you are having? It may be with your method of application. the liquid is worthless for the most part but the gel works very well

If you are doing it in the tank, priming the place first where you are going to glue it with a dab of glue on your fingertip works wonders. i have glues chunks of rok into my existing rock work using only super glue under water.

If you are doing it out of the tank, Boston Aqua Farms makes some really nice super glue accelerator that works wonders and doesn't deem to harm my corals at all.

the problems I have had with the super glue is that when I try to glue coral right to my current rock work, it never sticks or takes a super large amount.

I like the putty idea, I might try that, thanks!

Try the priming method i talked about. Put some on your fingertip and dab the area where you want to place the frag so that the glue adhears to the rock, then add some superglue to the frag or coral you want to place and stick it to the primed spot. It works very very well.

I think I'm going to try the Aquamend too, super glue did not work for me. I think I don't have enough contact with the frag and the coral for super glue to work right

basically breaking the skin of super glue gel once it hits the water is the hardest part to
accomplish. i usually just do a few twists and light pulling and pushing.. and voila. it works
quite well. i use the epoxy stuff once the super glue hardens to reinforce larger frags or
corals at angles that would stress the super glue due to weight.

the stuff from home depot is called "water weld" and it is made by JB weld, its just a little 4 inch epoxy stick, works great, it's what i use

I dont like putty or super glue. The DD putty desolves when you handle it under water. Marineland putty works ok. All putties dont hold frgas well until it hardens and by then the frag usually as fallen off. Super glue is to hard to use under water and on wet rock. But I find glue super glue is the best IMO.

Lately I've been using both. Use asmall ball of epoxy, put a dab of super glue on the coral then stick the putty to the coral, then put a dab of super glue on the back side of the epoxy then stickit where you want you can stick heavy things upside down in front of powerheads without turning of the powerhead. Try it, works great.

I can't beleive it has taken this long for someone to mention the gel glue/epoxy sandwich. If you can take a tooth brush to the rocks to clean the dirt first. Then super glue / epoxy / superglue on the frag outside of the tank and then stick it in the spot. Works every time.
