does anyone has any experience with these guys? my lfs has a nice piece and i can't seem to find a whole lot of info on them. tia!

low but circulating flow, low light. They're rated 'difficult' but if your params are excellent for corals and you can get them a protected nook, they should do well. The caution would be if the clowns decide to take up residence and get rough. If it were maroons, I'd say real potential problem, but occellaris are usually well-mannered, and you may be all right.

I picked one up about 9 months ago. It was only $12 and has emerald green polyps. It has done ok in my tank. Growth has been minimal but I have had aproblem with low calcium levels. They are supposed to be hardier than Gonis. Good luck!

They are nice corals and pretty hardy. I have had no problem with alves but no luck with gonis.
Here is mine so you can see placement and flow.

They get great extension and look great in the current.

Nice coral, bllfish! But from picture #3, that looks like a goniopora.

Second that. It is. Alveopora have 12 tentacles per polyp, Goniopora has 24.

Wow, you are right, it was supposed to be an alveopora, guess I am having more success than I thought. I had two other gonis and they only lasted a few weeks so I would not order any others. Thanks for the ID help deanos, John Kelly, and oldreefer76.

man i wish i could get one for 15 bucks... the piece at my lfs is 49... it's pretty good size, but i dunno. does anyone know why they're not seen very often? i can rarely even find them on websites... even ones that have gonios.
