Am I asking for trouble (i.e., clowns ripped to shreds)

If I were to upgrade to say a 72x36, 96x30, 96x24, or 72x30 footprint on a tank, could I combine my maroons (and numerous GBTA's) and my Cinnamon's (ans massive M. crispa) without expecting carnage (height is 25" on all)?

I have read post where people have done this in big tanks. A pair of clowns on each end with a good rock "mountain" in between them so they dont see each other. Assuming you put them all in at the same time and they stick with their respective host anemones.

hmm....possibly....it would be a crapshoot in the 6ft'ers but the 8ft'ers should be ok

The real problem is that the maroons get HUGE!

I dunno. the larger the tank, the better your chances I think. If you have the anemones on complete opposite ends, you have a chance. Wooglin has some magic "cantallusclownsjustgetalong pixie dust" over at his place -- maybe he would share some with you. I'm not sure if it is cinnamon flavored, though ;)

My maroon is pretty big (had her for over 10 years). Her beau is small, though, as is the Cinnamon's beau... The momma Cinnamon is not as big as the maroon, but is decently sized. The Cinnamons don't leave the anemone very often, but Shakes leaves hers from time to time, but never goes more than a few feet. This will be the primary decision maker on whether or not I consolidate tanks into a larger one...

haha...it's obvious that AnimaliA has never seen Shakes...there's no "getting HUGE" left in Shakes, she's already there! Gary, you trained her with the nose flicking, now just train her to stay on her side of the tank :)

So far with "so far" as the majic words :) I have 3 varieties living peacefully in a 7' tank. Now when the maroons get big it may be different but I am hoping since they have all been in there since the maroons were pretty small they will be fine. They all share about perfect 1/3rds of the tank also with the maroons in a bubble on the very far left, the skunk pretty much front and center in a nepthilia and the occillaris in a bubble on the far right.
The maroons lived in the right bubble coral till I added the occellaris about 2 months ago. The much smaller nemos when straight to the bubble coral within 20 mins of being dumped in the tank and was hosting with the maroons and I thought how weird. Within a hour they had beat up and ran the maroons off. They were kinda sad looking for awhile and the male was beat up a little but they found a new home in time and never cross paths now. Every so often its like one of the maroons will drift over just to see if the bullies are still in the much bigger, nicer bubble but they never fight anymore that I have noticed.
I was thinking with your move comming up you should just go all out and get one huge tank instead of a wall of small tanks conected together. I would go as big as space and budget allows. You know you want to :) Just tell Jen it will make life easier! It will just be a super pain to move if you ever have to! I would try them because clowns are pretty easy to net out after dark.

I'm working the will be an easier move angle. I don't think she's sold on it, but she's willing to let me make the call, I think... The biggest issue is finding an affordable stand until I can build a canopy. GC doesn't even make them for the large tanks (and the stands they do make aren't the easiest to work with or have much room through the doors, etc.). Tough decisions...

Thanks Daniel. I'm still a bit nervous about combining the clowns... I need to make a decision soon, though. Ah the horror;).

If only my dad was closer.... He whipped up a nice little canopy today for my freinds 29 in about an hour just from scrap laying around the shop. But if he did live close I am sure the club would keep him buisy
