Am I the only one who didn't know about the Aquapod 12 recall?

Last week, I upgraded the powerstrips behind my tanks. As I was plugging in the aquapod lights, I got a shock. I mentioned this to the manager of a not-so-LFS (in Santa Rosa). He gave me a copy of a recall notice that Current USA had sent to (all?) the LFS in February 2006. Apparently the 2 lights are wired into one ballast. That way if one powercord is plugged in and the other one is not, the loose one is still hot - they are wired together.

I guess I must not spend quite enough time on the nano forum, because I missed this entirely. [I did read the forum enough to know that there used to be a tank cracking problem.]

I have not yet determined if it is too late to get the tank replaced, as the notice came out last February. But if anyone else has an Aquapod 12, it is model 7050 without a serial number, sold between December 2005 and January 2006 that has this problem. If you have a tank with a serial number, you are not in danger of being shocked.

Maybe you all know this already! :D But I thought I'd pass along the information, just in case I'm not the last to know.

Yank the top and put a coralife or viper MH on it......

I am too attached to my blenny to allow him the opportunity to jump -> become carpet jerky!
