Amazing story about my snowflake clownfish

I came home tonight and found my snowflake clownfish on the floor in the back of the tank. My wife says she had heard a fish jump out of the tank 40 minutes earlier but couldn't find any in front of the tank. I thought she was a goner (she felt dry to the touch) but threw her back into the tank anyways. She floated down to the bottom of the tank not moving but after 10 or 20 seconds started to wiggle around. After a while she started to swim on her side and in circles. It's been about an hour now and she seems to have fully recovered!! I'm amazed by this. I've never seen a fish make it back after being out of the water for 30 or 40 minutes. Just thought I'd share my story.

Re: Amazing story about my snowflake clownfish

Losing her would have hurt. She's one of my favorite fish.

When i had freshwater, my fish went into the sink. 1 hour later, we got it out and put it back into the tank. It survived

awesoem to hear it made it... lucky... to bad when my GF heres a fish jump shes runs o the other room instead of looking for it. Your lucky man.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine with her humu humu. They thought it was a goner and tossed it in the trash. Another friend went to look at it in the trash HOURS later and she saw it twitch. They quickly ran it to the tank and dropped it in. It did exactly what your clown did just swimming on its side, totally alive, but unfortunately not with the same luck to make it through. Some fish can live for awhile out of water.

wow this thread makes me sad. my mandarin jumped out and i found him on the kitchen floor. Dont know how long he was there but... man... I never thought about tossing him back in.. :(
im so glad your fish made a nice recovery but this just ruined my day... :/

Sorry about your mandarin. 99% of the time I usually just flush them when they feel dry and aren't moving but she is one of my favorite and most expensive fish so that is why I even threw her back in. Makes me wonder about some of the other fish I've flushed in the past.

Great to hear, do you not have any covers on the tank??

I switch from MH to T5s(No Heat) so I could keep my covers on, I'm not about to lose
any fish. Just to hard to replace plus the cost.
Glad he's doing good.
