American Vs Japanese

Depends on what your selection criteria is.

If you want to support American business, then you have to research the company and the vehicle. Even if you buy a car that is assembled from American made parts if the company is foreign owned, I'd imagine that a good portion of the profits go to the parent company.

If you just want a car and don't care about where the money you spend on it goes, then you have a bunch of things to consider.

- Style/Asthetics
- Fuel Economy
- Power
- Handling
- Features/Options
- Availability
- Price
- Resale Value
- Service/Reliability
- Financing
- If you want stock or something to tinker with
- lots of other stuff

There are enough criteria that even if you eliminated 75% of them you still wouldn't get a consensus among 3 people.

Having owned
Pontic
Buick
Chev
Ford
Lexus
Nissan
Toyota
Honda
GMC
Reliabilty, features,style/Asthetics,resale value, Japanese has a decent edge here, but domestic finally getting better and a lot closer.
On all the Japenese stuff 0 problems other than routine maintainence.
Can't say that with Domestic, but is much better than 10 years ago.
Agree that if you really look at where some stuff is made/assembeled you might be surprised.
I would sum up by repeating what I was told by a long time sales/owner/manager of many of the products listed above.
Japenese cars fix the problems BEFORE it gets to market, Domestic fix the problems AFTER it gets to market.Take alook at any recall list and I think you will see that there is data to support this.
I would have to agree from my experiances.
Not a Japenese fanboy, but I still think that overall they make a better product.
-1 German... well made but overpriced compared to a Japenese equal.

Setting up new lighting!

As far as the cars...

Japanese Cars (Love my Evo and the Altima) but only American Trucks. The new Tundra is pretty nice but I just don't care for them. Ford / Chevy / Dodge is the only truck in my book.
