hello everyone, I have a blue hipo tang that developed ick, well after so many attempts I got him, this was a week ago, I place him in a eclipse 6 gallon tank with just a sponge filter and a bio wheel, well since the first day the ammonia is been thru the roof, afer the 4th day a began doing a gallon a day water change to no avail, I changed the entire water to no avail, I did another 2 gallons to no avail, so I did a total of 6 or 7 gallons (I lost count) and this morning still thru the roof, the fish is eating and swimming... any help would be greatly appreciated, I have an air line pumping micro bobbles, a plastic ornament that I bought from the fish store (for him to hide) and glass round pebbles on the bottom...1024 sg, 8.3 ph....help

get a bigger tank. At least a 10g or something like that to help with stability. you can get a 10g at Wal-mart for 9.99

The problem your encountering is it not cycled QT or tank so the ammoina could/is spiking.

do you tank 'old tank water' from your larger tank and put in the QT?

Since its not cycled that is what I would do, take old water for the whole tank and then check params everyday, ammoina and others and change the water if necessary.

you will more then likly have to keep an extremely close watch on the params and probably do a lot of water changes
