Ammonia reading

Hi. I am using salifert test kits. I have just tested ammonia (Tank in cycle 3 days) the test kit reads in mg/l. My reading is <0.25.
Is mg/l the same as ppm? I am a bit confused.

Yes, mg/L is about the same as ppm.

What is in the tank?

Hi thanks getting back to me! I am a newbie to marine. There is nothing in the tank at the moment. I am using ecosystem on 22g tank. Live rock arriving in 1 week. I did add a fresh dead shrimp today to start cycle. Although through forum i was advised to remove it and wait untill i add rock. when i did test for ammonia it was white so this indicates <0.25 is this ok? which i take as being a good parameter?

I too would remove the shrimp, and I wouldn't take the ammonia reading at the moment to mean much, since you do not know how much, if any ammonia the shrimp is currently releasing. The live rock will cycle fine without it.
