Amp Reading Apex EB8

How accurate is the amperage reading on the EB8?

When my first two lights come on (54w T5's) I would expect to read about 0.9A. It only read 0.3A.

Then when I added a second EB8, when the lights come on it doesn't register at all??

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

There is a way to calibrate the EB8 to zero. That could be your problem. It can only be done with a telnet command so you'll have to contact Neptune support for instructions.

It could be 2 things:

1) Calibration - you can verify this by checking the reading when nothing is turned on; it should read 0

2) Power factor of the connected devices - some devices do not have a 1:1 power factor and can read higher or lower than what you expect them to read

Report back after you check which condition you have.

Thank you for your feedback.

When nothing is on the reading is zero. if the calibration is off will it read less than zero?

The odd part for me was that the readings changed after I added the second EB8.

If you're reading 0 with everything off/disconnected then it's properly calibrated. The calibration is required if you were reading .5A for example, with everything off.

So what is this elusive telnet command for calibration?
My EB8 reads a constant 1.4A with nothing attached.

There are instructions in the Unofficial Apex manual.
