Amphiprion Chrysogaster

Yep, talked to my LFS, he said he sees "gasters" every week on the lists coming from Kenya.....they really Allardi

LFS said their list is from Kenya as well. They pulled the order because no one could confirm if in fact they have true Gaster's.

The search continues. :fun5:

Well, this is the internet. I have been hearing rumors about bans on everything for decades. They never materialize. Chrysogasters appear to be no different. A Mauritius shipment containing 'gasters just arrived in South Africa, so someone is collecting them. Everytime I hear or read about a ban on something, there is a rush to get some before the ban, prices skyrocket, then the ban never materializes. Looks like more of the same B.S. Working my LFS to work their wholesaler to get some. If there is enough interest, maybe some will be imported to the U.S.

I got a bunch of "gasters" from a Kenyan exporter a couple months ago that ended up being allardi. I required pics in advance before any re-shipment ... it got real quite after that. Even after the issue was resolved and agreed upon that they couldn't produce the fish, they kept gasters listed on their stock list. Still listed today.

Definitely buyer beware.

BTW – as far as the “official ban” on collections … official is synonymous with “negotiated” over there. The bottom line is that gasters are definitely being exported. The numbers are just low. A nice captive bred population sure would be nice for the trade as well as the ecosystem over there though.

Hey Yuri, you are all over the show, hey?

South Africans struggle a bit with spelling my name right.:wavehand:

MARCEL, actually french, that´s why my "son" knows how to spell it.

Yes, I am getting the pair soon, which is currently swimming at my suppliers shop in Jo´burg.

As soon as I got the first offspring, they will be shipped to Florida. Promise!
