Amphiprion fuscocaudatus

I disagree to a point. I think biologists and researchers should be allowed to collect them. My perspective being that with global warming and lowering salinity and increasing acidity of the oceans, the only functioning reefs left in 50 years might well be enclosed in glass. We should be collecting and propagating every species possible.

If I were to win mega millions , thats what I would try to do with everyclown spiecies. With the sole intention of provide them as captive bred to the hoby and science. So to a point we agree, but the idea of even limited collections in those areas for any other purpose does not sit well.

That doesnt mean I havent planned the trip out a thousand times in my mind, or dreamed of haggling a few pair of Omans from the king..

Im sure at some point we all have looked at those pics and though man that would be sweet. I have seen more then a few posts like this. If there was a dream clown this would be it.

I still hope none ever touched that place.

exactly! We could do just like they are doing with the McCulloch's Clownfish. So that people that dont have the thousands of dollars to go scuba diving over there and see them in person could get to experience them in person ! WDLV I like how you think. :)

Resurrecting this thread just because I posted an underwater photo of this guy here:

Just a small correction, this species occurs in the Seychelles and Aldabra. The Seychelles are not a world heritage area, but parts of it (including many atolls and Aldabra) is. It is possible to collect this fish there, but it is not in the market probably because there are very few (if any) collectors working in the area.

Great stuff Luiz, thanks for posting. I can't believe I'm posting this since I am very opposed to man-made hybrids, but your pic Luiz sure does look like an allardi/gaster hybrid. I sure would be interested to see the results of those two being bred.

If anyone has any contacts with the Somalian pirates, from what I've read they seem to be in the area, could be an honest days work for them. :)
