Love them clownfish.
im actually looking for a nice pair myself....but finding even one has proven challenging...

I have access to a small wild caught single who has been in captivity for 2 months now, the others he came in with died. He had ich but got over it. Captive breed are always more stable then thoose wild caughts, by the way make sure you QT that little beauty, almost every gripes comes with ich. Dont fart or make any sudden movements in front of the tank kinda of joking but they are skittish little buggers who dont do well with stress or acclimation. My female and male both still run to the back of the tank when ever i open the canopy to feed them. My self and a friend had 6 die on us before I got 2 good stable who are now breeding. My buddy who owns a shop doesnt really buy them anymore because he loosed to much money on them. Cheers and good luck.

Interesting enough this little guy was at the LFS for about 2 weeks, in a tank with many other inhabitants, and had no visible signs of stress. He was also eating frozen brine at the store. I have him in my 29 reef right now, mainly small frags, but 3 RBTA which has hasn't even approached yet! The only other animals are a yahsa hashe goby and pistol shrimp, and also a fire shrimp. The only thing he has eaten the past few days is cyclopeeze, and he didn't seem too interested in Mysis or formula 2. He has spent most of his time on the opposite side of the tank from the anemones hidden in a cave. Hopefully he starts to eat a little more soon!

Like i said they are easily stressed and I am sure the shrimps are not helping him. If he doesnt make it watch the forsale forums. Honestly though gripes really need to be Qtd for over a month and not in an empty tank, but one with loits of hiding places. Keep up on the cyclopeze he needs to keep his strength up right now. For some reason the little ones do better than big ones, or that is what I have found. They do seem to pair pretty easily though.

I have had an immature pair for several months now. They are still in QT because I don't have a tank to put them in.
If you have a LFS that has on account with Sea Dwelling Creatures (a LA wholesaler), have them keep a look out on the SDC pricelist for you. SDC has been getting a few in once or twice a month. On the pricelist they are called Rose Skunk Clowns. They don't get many in at a time on purpose, because they need to get them out fast before they die.

Do either of you have pics of them? I'm just wondering if there are any color variances with these guys since I can't find many pics online.
Mine is looking nice and fat now. He ate a bunch of frozen brine today. Hopefully he will eat some mysis tomorrow since it is so much more meaty. I doubt he is bothered by anything else in the tank. He hovers in a cave around the corner from the yahsha/pistol pair. And the fireshrimp hides in his hole on the other side of the tank all day. It is only his 3rd full day though, so I'm pretty happy!

Maybe I should have said that they don't like them sitting in the warehouse. The demand for these fish is steady but small, and if they get in a lot of them, only a few get sold. SDC does a pretty good job of treating their clowns when they get them in. They have made great strides recently with their wc percs and maroons, but nigripes are a difficult fish. They also don't like to order a lot at a time because the percentage of DOA's is pretty high.
FWIW: As far as color morphs, and this is just my own observation, fish from Sri Lanka tend to be more of a rose color, where fish from the Maldives tend to be a light orange.

I guess mine is in between.
Funny thing is, my brother is the one who pushed to get this guy. I was kinda reluctant cuz it doesn't have the brightest colors, and I was worried about finding another to pair it. But it worked out for the best since it will be real cool when I get a second.
Side note, he ate 2 or 3 rocks of the crack, and I think he is starting to brighten up a bit =P~
