Holy crud, got my UE bill today, the pool needs to go-the tanks & a/c are non-negoitable. 6-5-06/7-5-06. $388. & i saw in the paper today that ameren is seeking a 17% rate hike. :uzi: :uzi: :uzi:
Anyone else have a unusally high elect. bill this month?

Mine was 266. That is 40-50 higher than my normal bill for summer. The crazy thing is that I have been running the air since April and have not had a bill over 200, that was with my tank and chiller running the during the same period. I think they must have a different rate when June comes around.

Mine was 279 so the wife called and they told her this was the first summer rate bill. The winter rate is 3 cent AKW verses 7 cent AKW.

IL rates are suppose to double in January... My bills is always 225+ now, so 450+ is not looking good...

Kurt,

Ours was about $100 more than usual. After calling UE, it seems they have floating rates, which rise in the summer (peak usuage times) and fall in the winter.

And according to what I read in the paper, the average household will see an approximate 10 - 12% increase?!? Whatthe**** is that all about?

Like an oil company those guys era... How much is too much profit?

Howie

Just looked at mine, my bill is combined with electric and gas, total is $225 this month, $197 of that being the electric portion, my electric portion last month was $115.

138.00 - all electric house with budget billing. I guess those little spiral lightbulbs are paying off...

I have all spiral 14 w bulbs in the basement level which is where we are 90% of the time. I need to figure out what in the &^%* is up! It's not like I've just added something to make it rise that much. I could see 300, but not 436! Something wrong somewhere. I'm going to have to start getting on the boys about the doors opening too much or ??

I'm worn out from last night and now I'm p#$%%^^ off all day about the electric bill. Thanks Kurt!

mine went from 87 to 116 but I keep the house at about 76 to 77.

I read somewhere that keeping a house 1 or 2 degrees warmer actually can save alot of money. Next on my list is a programmable thermostat.

theres my problem! I keep my house @ 70, any higher than that the tank temps start creeping into the mid 80's.:smokin:

mine was $259. A programable t-stat will save you money if you set the stat higher during the day when your gone and at night. But only 3 degrees higher than normal setting

Yes. We just got back from abroad - even though we haven't been in the house for 3 weeks, it's $57 vs the usual $45 or so.

I was thinking you have to set it back 10 degrees for atleast 8 hrs to get the "33%" Energy star advertises. I work for a thermostat Manufacturer and we tell everyone 10 degrees. Also using the new Energy management recovery or "smart" recovery saves a lot too.
