I bought my first anemone yesterday. He did a 360 around the same rock twice before settling just left of where I first placed him. He's been there all day so I'm hoping that's where he'll stay...at least for now. I have to admit I was mesmerized watching it move and seeing the foot get so engorged with water. Really a cool specimen to observe.
I do have a question on hosting. I understand some clowns will host and others won't. I have one clown now in my DT who's been in there for about 5 months. I lost the other clown a couple months ago. I have a new much smaller clown in quarantine who was hosting in an anemone at the LFS I got him from (same tank the new anemone came from too). When I put him in the DT do you think there is a higher likelihood he'll host again since he did so at the store? And if so, do you think the older clown would follow suit?
The older clown was hosting around my previous powerhead, which I replaced with a Gyre a couple weeks ago in a different location. He's been hanging out in the same area but I don't know if it's really a so called home for him. I'm just curious what he may do when the new clown is added and if he'll follow him to the anemone.
