I'd like to make/buy a couple but my concern is with the acrylic. Even if the magnets are coated in epoxy, you'll still have to be extra careful not to scratch the tank, right?

The fix for the risk of scratching acrylic could be to apply a similar material used in acrylic safe mag floats (if they exist) to the magnet faces that touch the acrylic walls.

Wow, if i did not know any better I would say Bobby ran that website - amazing!

I use a similar concept, except I used those powerful powerhead magnets and made one that sticks out about 10" for lots of surface area. Great for moving things around to light acclimate new arrivals.
