I just noticed on my flame angel that there is an anchor worm attached to it. At first I thought it was a piece of bone or something then I did research and it looks just like an anchor worm. I have no idea where it came from. I have had the angel and all my fish/inverts for almost 3 years - haven't added any new fish for that time.
Anyway, I have read the treatment is either catch the fish (which is hard to do) to pull it out with a tweezer which may be more harm than good if I don't get the whole thing out and the head stays in; or, treat the whole tank with potassium permanganate which I bought on-line from eBay. Hopefully, I will get it next week. However, the dosage has to be accurate or I could have a disaster and kill everything in the tank. After reading on the dosage, it says to use 2 mg of the potassium per liter of water. So, does anyone know how to compute that on a 75 gal tank (let's say I have about 60 gal. of water since I have about 45 lbs. of live rock). I don't want to overdose or it could be lethal.
Has anyone else had an anchor worm problem? If so, how did you treat it?
